Please advice on the usage of A number
I came here as student and OPT before, the OPT had a A number
In my approved I-140 i had a A number, both the numbers are different
While filing the forms for 485/EAD/AP and I-693 ( medical report ) i saw a field for A number
Which number must i put in the field

Do you have I-140 approval notice with you? If so, A# is going to be there just above the Beneficiary name. Nowadays, USCIS is assigning the A# when they approve I-140. This is what i got from my attorney Rajiv Khanna. Do not listen to them who says it comes only when I-485 is approved. Once I-485 is approved, there is no need to have A# number otherthan you want to apply for Citizenship or keep it for records. So, it is useful only while applying 485 or EAD or AP.

I've done alot of debugging to try figure the problem... (.show()) isn't a method inside the openFileDialog class...?
-The main thing i'm found when debugging is that when the openFileDialog is used to do anything in my program even if i don't use any information from it it doesnt write my TEST data to a xml file or any other methods i use to write an xml file... eg.
When i run these lines in conjunction to the rest of my code

String fileNameToAdd = "E:\\blah";
//String fileNameToAdd = DialogAddTo.FileName;
Commenting out the openFileDialog and just storing a random file name then the rest of my program (eg. writing the xml file and info wanted) works however when i get the file name from the openFileDialog it doesn't let me write any Xml files even ones i have working already.
If anyone has had the same error or has knowledge please reply cheers

Thats not true.. A few days back I read on IV forum itself that around 10K were wasted this year too.
DOS & USCIS will have all data entered into their systems once they receipt all these 320k cases. Using past USCIS processing speed as another input, DOS should be able to issue accurate EB cut-off dates in all categories.
One can only really hope that they do this more accurately atleast by next bulletin & move forward cut-off dates.
In absence of any legislative changes so far, the EB community should really push for processing efficiencies more. (So far looks like atleast no visa numbers were wasted in FY 2007)

i would say apply for the Eb2. I am on Eb3 right now and i will plan to apply for eb2 after Dec 2008.
I have 3 years degree (15 year education). I am not sure if I can file on EB2.
You have filed on EB3 & planning to file on EB2; could you please share the logic for this & why are you waiting end of 2008, please share the reason, so if needed I can also plan something like you.

I just got the H1 Approval for 1 year and 2 months (1 year H1 Extension and 2 months recapture time). I am currently in Malaysia and need to apply for a visa at US Consulate in Malaysia. Since I am on the H1 visa, I have to show the proof that I will return back to Malaysia after the end of my work period in US. Accordingly, I would need to purchase the round trip ticket. The issue is that the plane ticket only valid for the maximum of 1 year, but my visa valid for 1 year and 2 months. Please advise if one way plane ticket would be sufficient for the visa interview or need to be a round trip plane ticket. If it is not, what should I do? Also, I wonder if the application package including I-129 submitted to USCIS need to be stamped “Certified True Copy” with the original signature of the lawyer or employer for the visa interview. Can I use the copy one that is stamped “Certified True Copy” with the non-original signatures of my lawyer or employer? Anybody pls help. Thank you very much.
Don't worry too much. H1Bs are not required to show proof to return to home country or at least the consulates won't worry too much about it. The care about your education, skills and their validity.
The visa is for work purpose and you will be out of status once it expires, and that will cause too much trouble if you overstatyed.

Just take what you have been given by your employer/lawyer to the consulate, and you will get it without much headace.

Frankly speaking we are interested in utilising time effectively, rather than studying hard to get a MS. On the basis of her health grounds, she cannot attend the college.
Regarding fees, smaller college fees is around 6k, where as big name colleges around 13k,
smaller colleges are easy to get results.
We wanted to utilise OPT in the future, so we may have to incline towards F1!!!

According to your profile it took you less than a year to get your GC and you call that a Long Wait. :rolleyes: People here stuck for 10 years.

Anyways hiring a lawyer and paying some money would be a better place to get a right answer.

So this way if company A does fire me during probation period I continue with company B :confused: on full time basis. Is this ok will it come to haunt me when I file for citizenship?

the new congress will meet in Jan 2007 session and will decide what bills they will consider during that session and will come up with a timetable to discuss those bills. especially after new members are elected, i dont think they can discuss uncompleted bills from previous session (correct me if i'm wrong). all they can do is to come up with new version of bill if they want to pass.
so the option before congress is either a new CIR bill (or) SKIL bill if nt discussed earlier (or) any bill like border security which includes EB provisions.
I think the new CIR bill will take time because of its complications. so I prefer SKIL bill or EB provisions in any bill. let us see.....:)

My H4 spouse left the country for vacation on May 25 (before h4 expiry)
Attorney filed 7th year ext and I 539 on Jun14.
My 6th year of H1 ended on Jun 17.
The attorney was not reachable by HR or myself. HR calls me today about problem with H4 and the attorney wants to discuss. What the heck ? Do they file I-539 when some one is not in the country ? She and I always maintained proper status. What can be the problem? I am freaking out to get my h1 ext approval asap and bring her back to file 485. Now my head is exploding. Any clues ? I cant bear this suspense.
Once your wife is not in this country..she would not be eligible to file 539...
But I do not think your head needs to explode...All you have to do now is to send your extension papers to wife back home and get her H4 stamped...
Without a stamp she cannot come back and by leaving country she abandoned the I539....

I actually did the stop payment back on the 14th and I have checked my account everyday and nothing...... Do you think they will reject it? I hate to lose the receipt date of July 2nd....
If there is no way you can stop the stop payment, then you should not get all anxious.
You were considering yourself lucky that your PD became current in July, unlucky that you filed a day too soon, but lucky that you came to know just in time, lucky that you still got your receipt, unlucky that you stopped payment, lucky that you have a second application in case your first one is rejected....
So you started being lucky and you might end up being lucky... Don't worry about all the unlucky episodes in between and hey, why worry about losing just 6 weeks of receipt date. Think about pre June-15th days :):)
